For some dogs, finding a forever home starts with learning to trust people. A $2,500 grant from the Florence Copper Community Foundation will help Friends of Pinal Pets give dogs at Pinal County Animal Care and Control (PCACC) a fresh start through its “Fearful to Fabulous” program.
Many of these dogs arrive at the shelter with little to no experience around people, making everyday activities like walking on a leash or being touched frightening. Through specialized foster and training programs, dogs receive one-on-one attention in a home-like environment where they can build confidence and learn the skills needed for adoption.
The program has already seen promising results. In 2025, all seven dogs Friends of Pinal Pets sent through intensive foster and training programs went on to find loving homes. This grant will help fund additional training cycles, each costing $900 and lasting three weeks.
