Through its Florence Copper Community Foundation community grant program, Florence Copper is proud to announce a $2,000 grant to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) in support of its ongoing work to assist rural shelters and improve outcomes for animals across Southern Arizona.
Through its transfer program, HSSA helps move pets from rural shelters, including Pinal County Animal Care and Control, to its main campus, where they can receive food, safe shelter, and necessary medical care. From there, animals are placed into foster homes or matched with adoptive families, giving them a better chance at finding permanent, loving homes.
In just the last six months of 2025, 61 pets were transferred from Pinal County, bringing the total to 88 transfers from the county for the year. These efforts play a critical role in reducing overcrowding in rural shelters while significantly improving outcomes for vulnerable animals.
This grant will help strengthen and expand these lifesaving transfer efforts, ensuring more animals receive the care and second chances they deserve.
The Florence Copper Community Foundation is honored to support organizations like the HSSA that are making a direct and meaningful impact across the region.
