This spring, the Florence Copper Community Foundation contributed a $2,400 grant to the Coolidge High School dance program in support of Elevating Dancers, Expanding Futures: Access to College Dance Intensives.
This program sends five dedicated dance students to Grand Canyon University for a week-long intensive experience, where they train daily in a college environment, live in dorms, and learn directly from university faculty. The experience gives students a real understanding of collegiate dance programs, audition expectations, and potential career pathways in the arts.
Beyond technique, the program builds confidence, discipline, and independence, helping students to see what is possible for their futures.
Coolidge High School dance instructor Shaylyn Timmons reflected on the impact of the opportunity, sharing: “We are profoundly grateful for this generous grant from Florence Copper… Students are not only immersed in rigorous, college-level dance training, but are also given the rare opportunity to truly experience life on a college campus, living in dorms, learning from university faculty, and envisioning themselves in that environment. For many, this is the moment where possibility becomes real.”
The Florence Copper Community Foundation is honored to support opportunities that help students grow, explore their potential, and take meaningful steps toward their futures.
