Environment
Florence Copper is committed to achieving high levels of environmental protection and conservation. We operate under stringent local, state, and federal regulations to ensure our operations protect and preserve the local environment and natural resources.
Florence Copper’s unique in-situ copper recovery (ISCR) process has been acknowledged for its environmental benefits – including limited land disturbance, reduced carbon emissions, and conservation of energy and water. Florence Copper will have 75% fewer carbon emissions, 65% less energy use and 78% less water consumed per pound of copper produced compared to conventional open-pit copper mines in Arizona.

Arizona State University’s prestigious L. William Seidman Research Institute has projected that Florence Copper will contribute more than $4.3 billion in economic activity to the State of Arizona over the project’s lifetime. In addition, Florence Copper will support more than 810 direct, indirect and induced jobs locally and throughout the state.
Community
Florence Copper is a proud supporter of local events and charitable causes. Our employees take pride in participating in local volunteer opportunities – including community parades, food drives, philanthropic clubs, and other volunteer initiatives. One example of our commitment to service is Florence Copper’s quarterly highway cleanup, during which employees clean a mile of Hunt Highway that we adopted as part of the Town of Florence’s Adopt-a-Town Road Program.
As part of our commitment to supporting the communities in closest proximity to our project, Florence Copper established the Florence Copper Community Foundation and Florence Copper Creating Opportunities Scholarship. Since 2013, the Florence Copper Community Foundation has donated over $191,000 in grants to local nonprofits and community initiatives in Florence and surrounding communities. The Creating Opportunities Scholarship program started in 2011 and has awarded over $109,000 to local students.
