Meet The Team

Prior to joining Florence Copper, John held positions as Chief Operating Officer for Powertech USA Inc. and most recently was Vice President Technical Services for Encore Energy Corp.
John is a licensed professional engineer and holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Refining from the Colorado School of Mines.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Scott holds a Master of Human Resources from Utah University and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication from Brigham Young University - Idaho. He also is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), a Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), and a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
Scott is deeply committed to the HR community, having served as President of the Southwest Arizona Human Resource Association. In this role, he successfully led annual strategic planning meetings, increased chapter membership by more than 50%, and completed several initiatives to qualify for the highest level of recognition from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM): Platinum. Scott was recently appointed to the Arizona State SHRM Council as a District Director, where he will serve the SHRM chapters of Northern Arizona.
Outside of his professional achievements and volunteer work, Scott enjoys playing the piano and organ and singing in a professional choir. He also loves camping, off-roading, and spending time in the great outdoors.

Sophie holds a Masters of Global Management with a focus in Global Affairs and Global Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. She serves as the Chair of the Arizona Mining Association Communications Committee and Vice-Chair of the Education Subcommittee and was part of the inaugural class of the American Exploration and Mining Association’s Society leadership program. A proud resident of Florence and passionate community volunteer, Sophie represents the business community on First Things First’s Pinal Regional Partnership Council and serves on several regional boards, including the Central Arizona College Foundation, Pinal Alliance for Economic Growth, United Way of Pinal County, and Pinal County Historical Society. Sophie’s work has been recognized with honors such as being named an Arizona Forward Emerging Sustainability Leader (2022), Arizona Mining Association Rising Star (2023), and Flinn-Brown Fellow (2025).

Glenn joined Florence Copper in 2011 as Technical Services Manager and is responsible for coordinating short- and long-term planning for the operation, implementing and managing technical systems, and providing leadership to the engineering function.
Glenn has extensive experience in hydrometallurgical operations, process development, and project management. His professional experience includes copper leaching, SX/EW, electro-refining and other extractive metallurgy projects for companies such as Freeport-McMoRan, Asarco, Santa Fe Pacific Gold, Copper Range Company, Cyprus Amax, and Phelps Dodge.
A resident of Florence for over 12 years, Glenn enjoys hiking, rockhounding, and exploring Arizona.

Ryan began his mining career in 2011 as a summer laborer at the Tyrone Mine in New Mexico. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University, he rejoined the mining sector as a metallurgist at the Safford Mine in Graham County, Arizona. Over the years, Ryan has held various technical and leadership roles, gaining expertise in process improvement, operations management, and project execution.
Ryan lives locally in San Tan Valley, and in his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, and traveling.

Josh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the British Columbia Institute of Technology and a certificate in Professional Project Management from the University of British Columbia. Josh began his career in the mining industry working as a mechanical technologist at Taseko’s Gibraltar Mine and held several senior engineering positions over the course of his career before taking on his current role in 2019.
While originally from Canada, Josh enjoys taking advantage of the beautiful and mild Arizona winters.

Lisa began her accounting career in the public accounting world, performing audits primarily on medium-sized manufacturing firms. She then moved into an Accounting Manager role at a telecommunications manufacturing company and has held several senior accounting roles since – including most recently as the Financial Specialist to the CFO for the Fairbanks North Star Borough in Fairbanks, Alaska. Lisa’s husband serves in the military as a commissioned officer of the U.S. Public Health Service, and as such, her family has moved several times, including to Florida and Alaska. They are now happy to be settled in Arizona.
In June 2022, Lisa moved to Anthem Merrill Ranch neighborhood in Florence with her husband, two children, and dog and subsequently joined the Florence Copper team. Lisa and her family enjoy hiking, camping, and playing board games. They recently purchased a motorhome and can’t wait to start exploring more of Arizona and the American southwest.

Avery studied at the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Idaho. He holds a B.S. in Economic Geology, a B.S. in Geological Engineering, as well as a M.S. in Mining Engineering from the University of Idaho. Fascinated by geology and mining from an early age, he began his professional career in 1992 in open-pit coal mining. After college, Avery worked as an ore control geologist at the Morenci mine in Greenlee County, Arizona, and later contributed to the pre-feasibility study for reopening the Bisbee mine in Cochise County. He went on to specialize in in-situ recovery (ISR) wellfield engineering for soda ash, borax, and copper operations.
In addition to his mining work, Avery previously owned and operated a commercial orchard business in Washington State, farming apples, pears, and cherries. He also has served as a Drilling Regulator and Water Resources Engineer for the State of Washington.
Avery lives in the Florence area and enjoys exploring the desert, reading, and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Before joining Florence Copper, Bob most recently served as MRM-Chief Drilling Services at Nevada Gold Mines, where he was the Functional Lead for the Mineral Resource Management Group’s Drilling Services team. In this role, he managed surface and underground exploration drilling across several mine sites in northern Nevada, overseeing a team of 17 Drilling Supervisors and 6 Business Administrators.
Outside of his professional life, Bob is a plane enthusiast and is currently working on obtaining his pilot’s license alongside his son.

In his various engineering and global advising roles, Mark managed compliance with Security, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations. Also, he led global EHS audits and developed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks to manage risks and opportunities around sustainability issues.
Mark is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology. He enjoys the Arizona outdoors with his wife and three children through photography, hiking, skiing, fishing, and mountain biking.
