Florence Copper Senior Metallurgist Lingyu Zhang recently earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Zhang completed this accomplishment while continuing to work full-time at Florence Copper. Her program expenses were supported by Florence Copper’s tuition reimbursement program, which allows Florence Copper employees to further their education and careers while working at the project.

“Pursuing my MBA was a way to continue developing myself professionally,” Zhang shared. “As an engineer, I can always learn more technical skills on the job, but I wanted to strengthen my business knowledge—things like finance, accounting, and economic analysis—to better support my work and leadership goals. It’s made me a better engineer, leader, and collaborator.”

The Florence Copper team was equally proud of her achievement. “We are always inspired to see employees invest in their professional growth,” said Scott Barnard, Human Resources Manager at Florence Copper. “Her commitment to continuing education is a great reflection of our team values and culture.”

When asked what advice she would give others considering going back to school, Zhang shared, “Do it. Don’t be afraid to keep learning. It can be challenging, but it’s always worth it in the end.” Florence Copper congratulates Zhang on this impressive achievement and looks forward to seeing how she will continue to use her skills, knowledge, and leadership as part of the Florence Copper team.
