Florence Copper is pleased to share the success of its 2025 United Way of Pinal County fundraising campaign. Through a combination of employee contributions and a $15,000 company donation, the campaign raised more than $25,600 to support early childhood literacy efforts across the community.

Employees contributed over $10,600, demonstrating a strong culture of generosity and community involvement. Together, these funds helped supply an estimated 9,848 books to children in the area through the Better Beginnings Initiative.

Better Beginnings is a collaborative effort between Florence Copper, United Way of Pinal County, and the Florence Unified School District (FUSD). With only 31% of Pinal County students reading proficiently by third grade, the program focuses on early intervention. In partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Better Beginnings provides free, age-appropriate books to children from birth to age five who live within FUSD zip codes. The initiative supports United Way’s Reading by 3rd Grade strategy, which aims to build strong literacy foundations and encourage lifelong learning.

“Florence Copper is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in our local community,” said John Mays, General Manager of Florence Copper. “Investing in early literacy helps set children on a path to success, and we’re proud to support this effort alongside our employees and community partners.”
